What are Super Neighborhoods
Communities Lending A Helping Hand
A Super Neighborhood is a geographically designated area within the City Of Houston, where residents, civic associations, church’s, schools and businesses work together to identify, plan and set priorities to address the needs and concerns of their community.
The boundaries of each Super Neighborhood rely on major physical features, (bayous, freeways, etc.), to group together contiguous communities that share common physical characteristics, or infrastructure.
Each Super Neighborhood elects a council comprised of area residents and stakeholders who serve as a forum to discuss issues, resulting in identification and implementation of priority projects for area.
The Planning Department may help by assisting Super Neighborhood Councils develop greater organizational self-sufficiency which is achieved by helping each one:
Build resources, and
Build links to volunteers
